A letter from Starla

The maker

Hi, I’m Starla.

This whole thing started in my little greenhouse. I’m a plant person to my core — too many cuttings, never enough pots — and one day I started shaping my own planters out of clay just so my plants could live in something with a bit of personality.

The Daydreamer is what came out: a lounging little lady with a sleepy smile, a plant growing from the bowl of her head and a second little pot resting in her hand. Trailing pothos for hair, a succulent peeking out of her, a spider plant spilling over — she looks different with whatever you grow in her.

I sculpt every one by hand and paint each face myself, so no two are exactly alike — just like no two of us are. Every piece leaves my studio with care. I take my time. Each one matters to me.

Thank you for being here. Whatever sunny windowsill she ends up on, I’m honored to make her for you.

From the homes these babes now live in

Real words from the plant people who found their new favorite pot.

“She sits on my windowsill with a string-of-pearls trailing out of her head and she is the first thing every guest asks about. Easily my favorite planter I own.”

— Rachel M.

“I’ve bought a lot of ‘handmade’ decor that turned out to be cheap resin. This is the real thing — you can feel the weight of the ceramic and see the brushwork on her face up close. Worth every penny.”

— Jordan T.

“Gave one to my plant-obsessed mom with a little succulent already tucked in. She texts me photos of it every time it grows. Best gift I’ve given in years.”

— Diane C.

Since 2024 I’ve hand-sculpted over 1,000 planters that now sit in homes around the world — each one shaped and painted by these hands.

Frequently asked questions

check_box

What plants work best in her?

She has a planter opening in her head and a little pot cradled in her hand, so she holds two plants at once. She looks amazing with a trailing plant like pothos or string-of-pearls spilling from her head and a small succulent, cactus or fern tucked into the hand pot. Faux plants work too if you want zero upkeep. Each opening fits a standard 2-3 inch nursery plant or a handful of soil.

check_box

How long does it take to receive my planter?

Every piece is handmade to order — this is a pre-order, and I take great pride in making sure you receive the highest possible quality.

Because each one is individually sculpted, glazed and hand-painted (never mass-produced), the entire process takes about 6-8 weeks from the day you order to the day she arrives at your door — that covers prep, sculpting, glazing, hand-painting and delivery.

I’ll keep you updated along the way so you’re never left wondering. I appreciate your patience — this timeline is what lets me keep true handmade quality instead of mass production.

check_box

How do I plant in her?

Easy. Add a little potting soil into the head bowl and the pot in her hand, tuck in your plants, and water lightly. For live plants I recommend going easy on water since the openings hold a small amount of soil — or pop a tiny nursery pot right inside so you can lift it out to water. She looks just as good with faux plants or dried stems if you prefer no maintenance.

check_box

Is it really handmade?

Yes. Every piece is sculpted and hand-painted by me in small batches — never mass-produced, never outsourced, never a printed-mold knockoff. Because each one is shaped by hand, you’ll see small, natural variations from piece to piece. That’s the mark of something truly handmade, and it means your planter is genuinely one of a kind.

check_box

What is she made of and how do I care for her?

Each piece is sculpted from ceramic clay and finished with a glossy sealed glaze for durability and a soft sheen. Care is simple: dust with a dry, soft cloth and wipe gently with a slightly damp cloth if needed. Wipe up any soil or water and let her dry fully. She’s made for indoor decorative use — with normal care she’s built to last for years.

check_box

What if I don’t love her?

I offer a 60-day satisfaction guarantee on every order, no questions asked. If your planter doesn’t feel right when it arrives — for any reason — reach out and I’ll make it right with a replacement or full refund. There’s also a lifetime craftsmanship warranty: if she ever chips or cracks under normal use, I’ll repair or replace her. No fine print.

check_box

How is this different from planters on Amazon or Etsy?

Most figure planters on big marketplaces are mass-produced resin pieces poured from the same mold by the thousand. Mine is the opposite. Every piece is sculpted in ceramic and painted by hand in my home studio, in small batches. You feel the difference the moment you pick her up — the weight, the glaze, the brushwork on her face, the little details only a real pair of hands leaves behind.

check_box

I want to gift this. Do you offer gift packaging or notes?

Every piece arrives in a cream gift box with tissue and a ribbon, ready to give. You can add a free handwritten note from you at checkout (up to 100 words). If you’d like to ship directly to the recipient, you’ll get the digital order confirmation and tracking while the package goes to them. Housewarmings, birthdays, plant-lover gifts — I’m honored to be part of those moments.
